My name is Brith, I have been working in childcare since 1999 and as a swimming instructor since 2009. In 2015, I decided to focus on swimming full time.
When I worked in child care I was often in the lead role as a support worker for many of the children who had additional needs and I just loved their unique way of thinking and interacting, and when I had winter holidays from the pool, I volunteered at Southport Special School helping in their hydro pool.
When the opportunity to become Autism Swim Approved presented itself, I jumped on it straight away, because I could not think of a better way to help children with additional needs. I love to be able to help all children become water confident and to love the water in general and of course, learn to swim.
I work from a private indoor heated saltwater pool, where there are only 4 teachers working, all individually. This makes the pool nice and quiet with minimal distractions. There is plenty of free street parking.
I love watching the result of all the hard work the children put into their swimming, it’s a thrill to see progress.
Every little step is a big step to become a confident swimmer, and should be celebrated.
Testimonials
“William started coming to 1 x 1 swimming lessons about 6 months ago. He is 7 years old with ASD and before swimming lessons, he would scream and cry if taken near the water. Brith has been amazing, allowing William to become comfortable at his own pace, and has helped him develop a “I can do it!” self-talk. He literally says, “I can do it!” now; when has challenges to face in and out of swimming lessons. William is currently swimming independently and learning back stroke. He probably does it better than me now lol. Recommendation 100 x”

“All 4 of my children have lessons with Brith!! They love going, from my 21-month-old son to my 15 year old who is autistic. They’ve all improved so much since our first lesson and they continue to get better with every lesson. So glad we found Brith!!”

“We’ve only had two lessons with Brith but our 3.5 year old twins (usually very anxious and difficulty with sensory integration) have progressed more than they did in a whole year of group classes! Brith is very aware, gentle, fun and the children love her; she can cleverly use calming techniques and play to help the little ones feel comfortable and develop confidence. We look forward to our lessons and can’t wait to see what the girls will learn each week!”

“Brith is amazing, my 5 year old daughter absolutely loves her! Her caring, patient and happy nature really puts the kids at ease and therefore ready to learn and progress in the pool. I can’t recommend Brith enough, we look forward to swimming every week! ”
