Hi. My name is Kerry Henke and I live in Mount Gambier, South Australia. I was a former state level competitive swimmer, and have been teaching on and off for the last 35 years. I teach a range of ages, from babies with parents to junior squad before joining a swimming club. I have also done SA Department For Education Child Development with Disability children. I also teach children with disabilities at Swimskool on a one on one basis. I am open to anyone and everyone, as this is a skill that can save lives.

I work at Swimskool, in Mount Gambier. I currently work Thursday, Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Kerry Henke has been working with my grandson Declan for over 5 years. Declan is 9 years old, totally blind and autistic and has many sensory challenges. In the beginning, Declan was very fearful of being in the water and of having any water poured over his face. In the time Kerry has been working with him, he is now enjoying going to the pool. Declan now loves climbing in and out over the side. He loves going under the water and trying to touch the bottom. Kerry now has Declan confidently doing the dog paddle and backstroke and is currently working on freestyle and breathing out through his nose and mouth under water. Without Kerry’s patience, persistence and encouragement, Declan wouldn’t have come as far as he has done. ~ Colleen Ryan ~
